ABOUT ABOUT

Lunch is on us!

We are planning a series of gatherings at key scientific meetings across the country to learn directly from you, our users, about your needs regarding photon research tools.

Key members of our scientific staff will be at CAP2018 in Halifax to update you on the overall efforts to map the future of CLS, and to hear your views.

The Canadian Light Source has been in operation since 2004 and provides a critical piece of scientific infrastructure by supplying brilliant light for over 1000 scientists/year, which result in nearly 300 publications per annum.

The nearly 15-year old facility is now at a point where some crucial decisions about its future must be made. Similar facilities around the world are upgrading or rebuilding to achieve higher brightness and enable new classes of experiments that rely on spatial coherence of the synchrotron beam.  Others are investing in free-electron lasers that bring, yet again, whole new areas of research akin to the revolution that occurred when visible light lasers were developed over 50 years ago.
